Curious. Great Lodge Drive goes right straight through the forest there.
Found a definition for "hodge," meaning an English rustic or farm laborer.
Lodge, obviously, is a place to sleep, temporary quarters, etc. Seems
like it could be either, Great Lodge or Great Hodge. Dunno.

Hi Linda
If you "travel" a few miles north-east from Oare you will see Savernake
Forest, and if you zoom in on the western side of the forest, around
Cadley,
you will see Great Lodge Drive. In the flowing script often used in 17th
Century legal documents, a capital L can easily be taken for an H.
Happy to help
Dick
