Asahel Chandler married Deborah Bourne of Sandwich MA by notice of entry in
the records of Sandwich, MA in 1785. They moved to Wayne, Maine earlier
than 1808, but after 1801, the date of birth of their sixth child, Dorothy,
who was born in Sandwich, MA and but before the the birth of their last
child, George, who was born in Wayne, Maine and when marriage intentions
were filed for their first son, John in September of 1808.
Children: John, b. 4-21-1786; Sarah, b. 6-3-1789; Alvin, b. 9-19-1792;
Abigail, b. b. 1794-1803 (confilicting information); Mary, b. 1796; Dorothy,
b. 1801; and George, born 3-13-1808.
It is now believed that Asahel was the son of Amor Chandler and Dorothy
White, of
Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey.
Children being reported of Amor and Dorothy:
Lidy, b. 9-5-1739 in Shrewsbury, NJ. married Edward Patterson Cook and
lived in Howell Township,
NJ
Pontius Chandler, b. 1741 in Monmouth County, captained the ship, "Sowbug".
Married and two sons lived
in Monmouth County, NJ
Rebeckah Chandler, b. 1743 in Monmouth Co. and married William Mount and
lived in Shrewsbury, NJ
Asahel Chandler, b. 1745 in Monmouth County and reported as having moved to
Massachusetts, married Deborah Bourne
Elizabeth Chandler, b. 1747 in Monmouth County and married Thomas Morris in
Monmouth County
Benjamin Chandler, b. 1749 and no other info
George Chandler, b. 1751 and no othe info
John Chandler, b. 1753, married Sarah, no further info
Thomas Chandler, b. 1755 and married Hannah Cook,
and Dorothy Chandler, may have died in infancy.
Amor was reported as being born in Wilmington, DE in 1710. He married
Dorothy White 4-30-1739 in Monmouth County, NJ.
Amor's parents were reported as Pontius, (no wife listed), who was
apparently born in Holland.
Amor was known as a bricklayer.
Looking for confirming information and details as I trace the Asahel
lineage.
