I am looking for information on Sidney Levi CHANDLER b. 5 December
1868 in IL
and family. He married Mary Evalyn Smith b. 9 May 1870 on 5 November 1890.
They had the following children:
Harry Abner b. 1891
Asa Lewis b. 1893
Olive Lyle Margaret b. 1897
Any help with verification of these dates would be greatly appreciated.
Jeannette CHANDLER Murray

Jeannette, Sidney is listed in the 1900 census in Lincoln, Sioux Co.,
Iowa. That census gives reported dates of birth, and these are Sidney,
Dec. 1868; Mary, May, 1870; Harry, Oct., 1891; Lewis, May, 1893; Lyle,
May, 1897. They had been married 9 years. All the children were born
in Iowa. If they were born in Sioux County they ought to be in the
records which are available on microfilm from the Family History Library
Birth records, 1880-1928; index 1880-1917

As you can see, if you are fortunate to find your people here, these
records include much more detail than simply the birthdate.
You didn't ask about parents, but Sidney seems to be the Sidney in the
1880 census in the household of A(bner) L. Chandler. Abner was in
Wheeler, Sac, Iowa at that time. In 1900 it is reported that he was
born in PA (as were both his parents) in April 1845.
In 1870 Abner L. Chandler was in Libertyville, Lake Co., IL with wife
Henrietta and son Sidney. Perhaps you will find birth records for
Sidney and marriage records for Abner and Henrietta there, although
Henrietta was also born in PA so it may be they were married in PA not
IL. From what I saw at the FHL catalog though, it may be that there
will be no records for Sidney's birth there. Apparently you have this
from some source though.
Both Rootsweb's WorldConnect and the LDS ancestral file have ancestors
for Abner, but they do not have primary sources noted, only references
to other webpages, etc. At one point these trees jump from Woodstock,
Windham, CT to PA. That's possible, but I'm skeptical. Perhaps you
know all about this.
