So how about the Thomas side of your family? Josiah Thomas married Mary "Polly"
Chandler in Lawrence County Indiana but they were both born in Kentucky, 1805-1809. My
great uncle, Walter Clark, also married an Ethel Thomas. They were both sheirf of Coalgate
County Oklahoma in the 1940's.

My Thomas and John Chandler Families were in Cumberland County Kentucky on the 1810 and
1820 Censuses. Thomas got land there in 1800 and I beleive he came from the Carolinas. I
believe Thomas died there before the 1820 Census and the Charity on that Census is his
widow. John was the son of Thomas and is on both Census. He married Winnifred Litteral and
two Litteral families are shown as neighbors. According to probate records, John died in
1823 and Winnifred Chandler was made guardian of the five minor children. One daughter,
Mary "Polly" Chandler, married Josiah Thomas and another, Cynthia, married John
Battle Mayfield, both in Lawrence County Indiana. My William George married Delilah
Chandler 08 Jan 1811 in Hamilton County Ohio. Their children were born in Indiana
1811-1829. They were in Clark County Illinois on the 1830 Census and in Texas by 1835.
Three of John Chandlers Children, Polly, Cynthia and Thomas were neighbors of my Georges
in Texas. Thomas went to
California during the Gold Rush and died there according to probate records in Cherokee
County. My problem is not enough information on the 1810 and 1820 Census about the family
members to identify them. Too many Thomas and John Chandlers!
My George Family Tree is on
Ancestry.com and my handle is georgedl1. Is your tree on
line?

Sorry, I do not have any information on a Chandler of Iowa. One John
Chandler from GA died in Leon Co, TX, and one John Chandler died in Graves
Co., KY.
