Hi ! Barbara,
Clark County is quite a distance from Spokane County, but not as far to
Yakima, where my father said he and his dad traveled by buckboard on occasions.
I have no idea why they went there unless it was to visit relatives. The A.J.
Chandler was documented on my father's marriage application in 1930, although
he stated John J. Chandler on his S.S, application in 1937. Joseph B.
Chandler was b. 1899 in Spokane Co. WA. His mother died about 1902. I appreciate the
Chandler names you mention in Clark County, however my father was an only
child, so he said, and did not have any other family names he could remember.
Best regards,

David,
Although there may be no connection at all between our
two Chandler lines, some of mine also migrated to
Washington state--to Clark County.
My great-grandmother's brother was named Abner Levi
Chandler. He was born in 1847 and might have fathered
a son in 1899. Abner probaby was born in Gibson,
Susquehanna County, PA. He married Henrietta Dunn.
This couple settled in Louisa County, Iowa, and lived
there the rest of their lives. A woman named Laurella
and I have posted information about him in the
Chandler forum on <
www.Genforum.com>. Look for his
name and also the name of his father, Ezra Chandler,
and grandfather, Dr. Robert Chandler. Do let me know
if you find a connection.
Readers of old script writing often mix up the
"J's," "L's," and "S's" and then record them
wrong.
It's possible that A.J. was really A.L.
