I've been looking for the following female under the name of Chambers and
someone suggested that perhaps her name might be Chandler. Would like to learn
if this person might have been a Chandler instead of numerous other name
spellings. As census takers were known to spelled by sound a lot of the time,
her name could be anything. If her name really is Josephine, perhaps her father
was a Joseph?
On the Jackson Co AL 1870 census is Josephine (a good guess I hope), living in
the the following home:
Scottsboro, Jackson Co AL 1870. (MY NOTE: The spelling for David Wenrick is
questionable. Jospehine's name is very questionable)
HH# 43-42
David Wenrick?? 27 w/m Carpenter b. PA
(estimate birth year 1843)
Manerva " 22 w/f K. House b. GA (
estimate 1848)
WILLIAM WILSON 68 w/m b. SC
(estimate 1802)
Josephine Chunscer???*** 10 w/f b. AL
(estimate 1860) **(MY NOTE: Could be CHAMBERS?)
I'm trying to search for my Wilson family (I have very little information to
help me), and I think the William Wilson above might be a connection. Would like
to find out about this Josephine? to see if there could be a Wilson connection
there or if she was just a little girl that had been taken in because she had no
home/parents. Anyone on the list have Wilson connections? This Wilson family
left some unknown place in SC, moved to Walker Co GA before 1850, was on that
1850 census and then appeared on the 1860 DeKalb Co AL census. William's wife
was Sarah, unknown maiden name. They had 5 children born in SC and the other 5
were born in GA.
Would someone on this list please look at this 1870 Jackson Co AL census and
give me suggestions for this person's name? I could really use the help as I've
been looking for quite a while and don't know where else to look.
Thanks,
Paula
