I did not keep the name of the subscriber who asked about Robert Chandler,
Primitive Baptist preacher who lived near Chandler Spring in Kennamer's
Cove. My notes indicate that he may have been born, not in VA, but in SC,
though that is not a certainty. His wife was Nancy Mobley, born 1808-09 in
SC, and his first five children were born in SC (Mary, Henry Isham, Martha,
Elizabeth, and John), his sixth in GA (Elias M.), and the next two in AL
(Susannah and George). Judging by birthdates, he apparently came to AL
with his family from SC via GA about 1825 -26. He attended Mount Pisgah
Baptist Church which was in Jackson co, AL, until Kennamer's Cove was added
to Marshall Co., AL, in 1836, and, for a time, was a member of Union
Primitive Baptist Church near Woodville in Jackson co. The Kennamer Family
History contains material on several Chandler families.
