I sure hope you find something. Hopefully the DNA will come up for
you. :-)

I have been searching for over 30 years for Joe Buster Chandler b.
09/09/1899 Spokane County, Washington. I have even submitted a DNA test to
Chandler Association. Results of the search and DNA have proven negative to date,
Joe should have shown up in 1900-1910 & 1920 Washington census, but the
first time I pick him up in any document is in 1926 in San Diego, California
where he migrated.
Although Joe said he had no siblings, it is with hope that some relative
of a Chandler family from Washington State, will know something of my father
or his family.
Name: Joe Buster Chandler
Spouse: Nellie Winora Gilson
Parents: John J / or A. J. Chandler ,
Birth Place: Spokane Co, Spokane, WA
Birth Date: 9 September 1899
Marriage Place: San Diego
Marriage Date: 11 September 1930
Death Place: Escondido, San Diego Co, CA
Death Date: 18 August 1984
SS # 564-xx-xxxx JOE BUSTER CHANDLER
Father - JOHN J. or A. J. CHANDLER
Mother - UNKNOWN
This is what I have on my Grandfather;
I have not found a reference to a John J. or an A. J. Chandler in
Washington state, who Joe said was his father's name.
This is the same name written on Joe's 1937 Social Security application as
being the father of Joe Buster Chandler. Mother's maiden name was not
known. A copy of Joe's marriage application states his father's name as A. J.
Chandler born Iowa.
In either case Joe's parents have not been found and we assume the J.
initial may stand for John or Joseph.
It is stated on the 1930 California census that both of Joe's parents were
born in Michigan.
The only A. J. Chandler found in Washington;
A. J. Chandler d. Apr. 20, 1912, buried Moran Cemetery 1-81-B
Ida M. Chandler
Floyd Chandler d. June 10, 1922, buried Moran Cemetery 3-81-B
Nina Chandler d. Oct. 25, 1906, buried Moran cemetery 4-81-B
Note; Joe may have lived with this family between census, but there is no
record.
This is what I have on my father;
Name: Joe Buster Chandler
Spouse: Nellie Winora Gilson
Parents: John J / or A. J. Chandler ,
Birth Place: Spokane Co, Spokane, WA
Birth Date: 9 September 1899
Marriage Place: San Diego
Marriage Date: 11 September 1930
Death Place: Escondido, San Diego Co, CA
Death Date: 18 August 1984
My father apparently had been so emotionally traumatized by events in his
early childhood that right up to the time of his death at age 85, he had
genetic amnesia ... what few earlier memories he could glean were generally
proved to have been unfounded memories.
Joe had always stated that he was born on Sept. 09,1899 in the County of
Spokane, Washington.
He could not remember much about his childhood and nothing about his
family.
This is what he did remembered;
My Dad Joe, said verbally, and all subsequent recorded documents by him
state that he was born on Sept. 09,1899 in the County of Spokane, Washington.
However, I have not found any record of his birth or of his residence in
the state of Washington, Oregon, Utah, Idaho or California, at least until
the 1926 San Diego, California City Directories.
Earliest records are from the San Diego Directory's showing Joe as a
resident in California from 1926 on.
He is shown in the 1930 Federal census in San Diego just prior to his
marriage.
He does show up on the San Diego, CA. Federal census.
The next recorded document was of his marriage in San Diego Co. In 1930.
Joe filled out a Social Security form in San Diego Co. In 1937.
Earliest records are;
1. San Diego Directories have Joe Chandler listed from 1926.
( I have copies )
2. Marriage record and application of Joe's marriage in San Diego Co. in
1930. ( I have copies )
3. 1930 San Diego, California Federal State Census.
4. Social Security application filled out from San Diego Co. in 1937.
( I have copy )
5. Employment application forms from RR Express.
( I have copy )
6. Divorce papers from San Diego Court records.
( I have copies )
7. Retirement application from Railroad.
( I have copy )
8. 1984 Death Certificate.
( I have copy ).
Joe's verbal statement was that he was approximately (2) years old when his
mother died. (This would have been around 1901).
He thought his mother was from England, or of English decent.
His father, he knew as John J. or A. J. Chandler, and apparently lived
with him until at least 1907 in Spokane, Washington. At this time Joe claims
to have left home about 1907. (This may mean he left his fathers home in
Spokane, and went to live with an Aunt). The only thing he remembers about his
youth, is that he thought he was cared for by a red-headed Aunt after his
mother died. (Could have been Uncle's wife)
He remembered swimming in the Snake, Palouse & Tucannon Rivers.
He also said he remembered in 1910 Spokane, of seeing Haley's comet.
John J. Chandler, Joe's father, according to Joe’s memory, ran some type of
grocery store, or was a Merchant in Washington.
Joe remembered traveling with his father to Yakama, Washington on a
buckboard wagon.
He thought his father John, was from Des Moines, Iowa, and that his father
John could have had a brother in WW1 that served in Czechoslovakia.
(It is speculated that this Uncle would have been older than my father
Joe, born between 1880 and 1890, making him either 17/27 in 1917, at which
time he may have signed up for the mandatory draft registration in 1917).
Of course Joe was also of draft age being 18 in 1917, but there is no
record found of his name on file.
Joe left Washington after 1925, to come to California. He drove a car and
was a migrant farm worker along the way. His first job in California was a
Ranch Hand, at the Santa Fe Ranch in Calif.
I have the recorded document of my father, Joe Buster Chandler of his
marriage to my mother Nellie Winora Gilson on Sept.11, 1930, in San Diego
County, California.
I also have the recorded application on Feb. 02, 1937, he filed for Social
Security in San Diego, CA.
At this time he was employed at Van Camps Seafood Co. at 1445 South Crosby
St. in San Diego, CA.
In later years he was employed by the Railway Express, Santa Fe depot, in
San Diego, CA. where he worked for (23) years, after which time he retired.
Joe and Winora had four children;
Theodore Joe Chandler Living - b. San Diego, Ca.
Michael Gene Chandler Living - b. San Diego, Ca.
John Bernard Chandler Living - b. San Diego, Ca.
David Charles Chandler born May 30,1937 San Diego, Ca.
Joe and Winora Chandler were divorced on Oct. 19, 1946, in San Diego, Ca.
Joe never remarried and he lived in San Diego for the rest of his life.
He passed away in a convalescence home in Escondido, Calif. on Aug.18,1984.
He was cremated and ashes were buried at sea.

Only two Joe's found in Washington;
1910 Spokane Co. Washington census;
Joe Chandler b. 1903 d. before 1984.
============================================================================
===================
1920 Pacific Co. Washington census;
The listing of a Joseph B. Chandler residing in Nahcotes Prct., Pacific
County, Washington ( Nahcotta, Pacific Co, Washington.) on the 1920 census,
was thought to be our Joseph Buster Chandler. It states his birth date as
1895 Illinois. Father b. Indiana. Mother b. Iowa.
It appears he may have been a foreman farm worker for Cammacho's.
However this Joseph B. Chandler died prior to my father, so has been proven
NOT to be my Joe.
