This is unrelated to genealogy, but is part of our History.
My little brother Rich is currently in Bagdad and has been throughout the war there. He is working two hospitals in the Northeast Sector. He is in the 3rd Infantry and a Medic. He wrote me a letter dated for April 29th and I just recieved it today. I had asked him if I could send him anything or if he needed anything. What he wants from me is to spread the word and ask all who can here in the States or whereever you are located to send the children over in Bagdad coloring books and crayons. He says they are innocent victims of this war and there smiles are well worth it. They have very little. He is a father himself and his daughter is here in the States awaiting his safe return. Anyone who sends the books and crayons or whatever you think the children will enjoy can send the packages to him and include your email address. To all who send he is willing to take pictures of the children enjoying your gifts and email you a copy. You can send them to:

I don't know if you live in Alabama but have you tried the court house there and the library. You can also request for their vitals throught ancestry.com s' (ssdi) which is the social security death index. You can print out the form and there is a fee for their death cert. which has alot of infor.
Try some of these sites: www.genlookups.com, http://eagle.vsla.edu/bible.gatewayhttp://cgi.tripod.com
Also try the census reports if you haven't tried already.
Hope some of this infor. helps you if I get anymore infor. I will get back to you.
Good luck with your research and have a bless day

Dear Mr. Brooks,
Forget what Robins wrote. In fact, you may wish to alert him to the following information.
To obtain the ACCURATE story about 1610 (not 1609) immigrant John Chandler and many of his descendants, read my six articles in "Tidewater Virginia Families," beginning with the August/September 2000 issue and ending with the February/March 2003 issue. These articles revolutionize the story of 1610 John and descendants to the 5th generation. Most subsequent desendants can be identified in other publications and/or public records that are reasonably available.
TVF is available in most libraries carrying current Virginia genealogical materials. Individual copies are also available from the publisher at <tvf(a)erols.com>. TVF also has a web site - just enter the magazine name in any search engine.
Most of what you have quoted from Robins' publication tells me that he is using very old materials, well known to those of us who have done NEW and ACCURATE research in the last decade. Why anyone finds a document that is decades old and doesn't check to determine it's current reliability is beyond my comprehension.
For instance, John arrived in 1610 at age 10, not 1609. He did not come as the servant of Thomas Willoughby, who was a year younger and was still in England in 1610!
Depending on whether Robins used the original 1931 Chandler Genealogy or some other iteration thereof, the other names you listed could be very badly and incorrectly arranged.
The WWW has contained a web page for the Chandler Family Association (CFA) for about 7 years alerting researchers that CFA and I are publishing revolutionary new materials about the immigrant and his family.
All details about the 4th and 5th generations are not provided in my articles, but can be obtained from other published materials or available records.
Depending upon your lineage, additional information may also have been published in the CFA "Newsletter." Contact President Elizabeth Steelman at <beth(a)texramp.net>.
Finally, there is an UNVERIFIED data base of alleged descendants of 1610 John, compiled and updated annually by CFA member Jim Reeves (<jer(a)toad.net>), containing more than 93,000 names.
If you will send me - either through this medium or by direct e-mail - the name, dates and location/s of your most remote Chandler ancestor, I'll check the data base. You may NOT NEED all 6 of my articles, although you may wish to have them.

Trying to determine more about John Chandler who in 1609 at the age of 24 came to the New World on the ship HERCULES as the servant of Thomas Willoby. After the Inidan Massaccre of 1622, some records show Chandller as living in Elizabeth City in the w623 Muster. These same records indicate he purchased Newport News about 1639.
These same records cover Timothy Chandler, Rpbert Chandler of Caroline Co., REv. Richard Woolfolk Vhandler and a Joseph Chandler. This family history was compiled by Robert W. Robins, descendant of Gilduroy Chandler ub 19 64 and is dedicated to the memory of Robins' grandfather - Cephas Harris Chandler. Are there any links here?
