My great-grandfather was named Matthew Chandler. He was born in NC. in or about 1822 and died in 1900 in Hunt County, Texas. He was married to SusAnna Wilkerson born in VA. That is just about all that I know. If any of this fits into your profile I would appreciate any help.

"I am looking for this family and need to verify the information against the valid records.
What I have so far:
Freeman Chandler, b. July 15, 1801 at Androscoggin, Poland, Maine
His wife: Esther Austin, b. 1797 at Hartford, Oxford, Maine"
The Family History Library has two films which can be rented which might help. One contains information extracted from the other. It is:
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp
Poland, Androscoggin, Maine computer printout; births or christenings, 1752-1875
Authors The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Genealogical Department (Main Author)
Notes C-50285-1.Extracted from microfilm no.: 011739.
This would probably be far easier to read than the film of the original book--between handwriting difficulties and poor reproductions the originals are sometimes impossible to make out. But you could check the original as well:
Vital records 1802-1937
Authors Poland (Maine). Town Clerk (Main Author)
Note Location
Film
Vital records 1802-1937 FHL US/CAN Film
11739
It was often the habit of New England town clerks to record information such as birth dates which took place at earlier times and in other places--they might do this when a family moved into a town for instance. Apparently, judging by the printout film, the VR film could include Freeman.
Your message gave Freeman's parents--an Ichabod shows up in a 1798 list of Poland taxpayers and in the 1790 census for Bakerstown Plantation, which became Poland. Since you know the parents, you probably know the line back. But in case you don't, an Ichabod, son of Jonathan, bp. sep 19, 1762 appears in the Duxbury, Plymouth MA VR, p. 42, and the marriage to Olive , Jan 29 1784 is on p. 231. Olive is said to be "of Pembroke."
