Simon - Chandler was not a common surname in Derbyshire and Walter was not a particularly common given name, so it should not be difficult to locate your Walter. However, there was no Walter Chandler birth registered in Derbyshire in 1862 or any time around then. There was a Walter Chandler birth registered at Burton upon Trent in Staffordshire in the third quarter of 1861 - that is about 10 miles south-west of Derby. Could this be your Walter? (Radbourne is a couple of miles north-west of Derby). What is the source of your information about his birth date and place? You can e-mail me directly on dchandler(a)sunwave.net - if you let me know the details of the line from Walter to you, I will be pleased to try and help you find his parentage.
Best wishes
Dick Chandler

the matriarch of the Bailey family
Hi ! Harry;
My father's name was Joe B. Chandler b. 1899 Spokane, WA.
I wonder if the B. could stand for Bailey? Do you know of any CHANDLER/ BAILEY's that went to Washington state in late 1890's ???
Dave Chandler
