I am looking for information on a Jack Chandler that was in the Cole co. census for Jefferson Twp. in 1870. He was married and had 5 children when the census was taken on June 22, 1870, but I was needing information to know if he might have had two other children other than those listed on the census. One of which was born June 16, 1870. This child was Samuel and the 1920 census I found him on said he was born in MO and that his father was also. His death information from the funeral home said his father was Jack. It is Jack I am looking for.
Thank You!

Greetings, for all who have phone numbers saved for contact with people or
places in certain areas of Virginia.
>From a local Halifax Co Va. newspaper:
804 is now 434
On January 15, 2002, mandatory dialing of the 434 area code begins for South
Boston, Halifax County and much of Central and Southside Virginia including
Danville, Lynchburg and Charlottesville. On that date, callers must use the
correct area code to complete their calls.
Callers who do not use the new area code will receive a recorded message
reminding them that the area code has changed. The new area code does not
affect the cost of telephone calls and local calls will remain local calls
regardless of the area code dialed.
Southside Virginia was branded 804 when area codes were first introduced but
as available numbers began running out, the State Corporation Commission was
forced to divide code regions to relieve the exhaust of available telephone
numbers.
The relief plan adopted by the SCC draws a line that splits the existing 804
area code region in half geographically. The split, in terms of existing
telephone customers, places one-third of them in the western section and the
other two-thirds in the eastern section (see map).
Richmond, its surrounding metropolitan area including Petersburg and the
Northern Neck, will retain the existing 804 area code. When this area
subsequently exhausts, which is estimated to be in about six years, a new
area code will be assigned to serve the same geographic region.
An overlay code requires all calls within the area to dial 10 digits (area
code, plus the number). The SCC expects this to provide relief for the next
20 years.
Southside Virginia residents, including South Boston and Halifax County, will
experience a one-time inconvenience of a change in their area code.
Seven-digit dialing for local calls has been preserved. This is also expected
to be a 20-year solution.
So much for land line solutions.
If you own a wireless phone (and who doesn't?), it must be reprogrammed.
According to the SCC, wireless telephone customers in the new 434 region will
be able to retain their 804 number for up to two years after the split
occurred on June 1, 2001.
But cell phone service providers say subscribers may not be able to receive
all of their calls if the 434 area code is not programed into the phone.
Even worse, initiating a wireless call with an incorrect area code could cost
you unless you able to convince the service provider that it was an honest
mistake. Either way, wireless service providers say you need to dial the
correct area code when making any phone call in order to assure the
connection and the lowest user fee.
Reprogramming a cell phone usually takes less than two minutes, according to
an Alltel representative.

Hello Listers,
Isaac CHANDLER was elected assesor of Hamburg, April, 1812, as stated in
The HISTORY OF ERIE COUNTY, by Crisfield Johnson, Chapter called The
Mechanical Society, page 201.
I have only been able to surmise that this is his family:
1. COL. ISAAC CHANDLER
Children of COL. ISAAC CHANDLER are:
i. JAMES CHANDLER, b. 1825.
ii. ALVIRA CHANDLER, b. 1828. married
iii. LAURA E. CHANDLER, b. March 19, 1835, Albany, NY; married W. Whitaker.
iv. ISAAC CHANDLER, b. 1841.
Anyone familiar with this family? Many greetings,

Greetings,
I am seeking information on an Afro-American Nannie Chandler & co,
b. abt 1835, d. 9/10/1921 in Halifax Co Va.
Nannie's Death Certificate listed her mother as Josie/Jasie.
Nannie always listed as single, had the following children:
1. Mary W. b. 1858
2. Richard b. abt 1866, m. 1-17-1885 to Bettie Leigh
b. abt 1863
3. James Thomas (my g-father) b. abt 1866, d. 1/19/1933,
m. 3-25-1885 to Lucy Lacy b. abt. 1862
On the Death Cert. of James Thomas, his father was listed as, Bill
Byrd.
4. Jocey/Joicy Ann b. 4/1867, info on birth provided to authorities by
Adolphus Chandler, employer of mother Nannie. Jocey m. may 12, 1885
to Henry Easley.
5. Emma b. 1870
6. Sarah b. 1874 m. Vincent Jones
7. Hallie V. b 1877 m dec 12 1914 to Matthew Younger
There seems to have been a possible connection between Nannie, her son
James Thomas, a white Adolphus Chandler, black Susan Bird/Byrd and the son
of Susan, William Bird/Byrd, of Halifax Co Va.
In the 1850 Census There was a white man named Adolphus Chandler,
listed as having 7 slaves.
In 1850 there were listed Free Blacks :
Melunia/Melvnia Bird, 29y & Susan Bird, 30y & William W. Bird, 3y
===============
In the 1860 Census I found White Adolphus Chandler, 45y,
with 6 slaves, $1,400 in Real Estate, $1,200 in pers. prop.
Living in the same house were Free Blacks,
Melunia/Melvinia Byrd, 40y $100 in Real Estate, $50 in pers. prop.
Susan Byrd, 40y & Susan Byrd, 8 mos.
William Bird/Byrd, son of Susan, now 14years old, is living 9 houses away
with a Thomas Gallimore.
==========
In 1870, I found neither Adolphus or Nannie Chandler.
I did find Melunia/Melvinia living with Susan and two female children, Jennie
and Susan. Susans son William Byrd was living elsewhere with with his wife
Mariah.
In 1880, Nannie is living with her 8 children. Next door is our William
Byrd/Bird, widowed with 3 children.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---
Adolphus Chandler was listed as the employer of Nannie Chandler when Nannie
gave birth to her daughter Joicy/Jocey Ann in 1867.
Adolphus Chandler died in Dec 15, 1872 from Pneumonia. There was no wife
listed, his parents were Hardaway Chandler, and Elizabeth D. Fulkerson
Chandler. Siblings of Adolphus were, Maria, Judith & David. Adolphus appears
to have had no children.
Any help out there?
Larry

Have no information other then what is below.
This was one of my father's best friends when he came to California in 1926
from Washington State.
My father "Joe" Joseph Buster CHANDLER was b. 09/09/1899 Spokane, Washington.
In the early 1920's, he and two friend left Washington, migrating to
California. They ended up in San Diego, CA. where Joe shows up in 1926.
In 1930, Bernard Gilbreath signed as a witness on Joe's marriage license.
In 1931, Bernard Gilbreath resided 3682 1/2 Mountain View Drive in San Diego,
CA. He was a laborer for the Post Office.
In 1932, Bernard Gilbreath resided 3038 Fir St. San Diego, CA. He was a
laborer for the Post Office.
If anyone knows of this person or has information on his association with Joe
CHANDLER, please contact David C. Chandler - Famsource(a)aol.com
I seem to be grasping at straws when it comes to finding any information on a
Chandler family that I know nothing about.
I would like to correspond with any CHANDLER or BUSTER family researcher in
Washington State. BUSTER, which is the middle name of my father, first name
being "Joe" or Joseph.
My father Joe, b. 09/09/1899 Spokane, WA. said he left home at the age of
eight years, so he didn't remember much about his family.
His mother died abt. 1902/03/04 when he was two or three. He doesn't remember
any brothers or sisters, although he thought he had an Aunt & Uncle, and he
wasn't sure what side of the family they were on. It could have been a
Chandler Uncle or a Chandler Aunt which would have become a different
surname.
I tend to go along with the Aunt because he said he lived with her for a
while and that would explain why I cannot find him listed in the 1900/1910
Census in a Chandler family.
My father was apparently not sure what name or what state his father was
from.
On his Social Security application he stated his father's name was JOHN
J. CHANDLER.
On his marriage application he stated his father's name was A. J.
CHANDLER from Iowa.
The one and only Joseph B. Chandler I have found in the Washington census
was on the 1920 Pacific County census which states his father was born in
Indiana, but it also says Joseph was born in Illinois and mother was born in
Iowa. This Joseph is listed as being born in 1895 instead of 1899, so I think
well maybe this is not my father after all. But then again I say, just how
many Joseph B. Chandler's can there be in the state of Washington ?
There was a Joe Chandler in Spokane Co., but he was born in 1904 and I
have verified him as having died before my father.
Since all of my own research and the help of some friends from the
Eastern Genealogical Society of Washington has failed to find my father's
family, I think the only source left is to find a Chandler family in
Washington that has a diary or family bible that may mention my dad. If you
have any information or ideas on how to narrow this search down, I would be
most appreciative.
Joe had always stated that he was born on Sept. 09,1899 in the County of
Spokane, Washington. First record of Joe Chandler other then 1920 Pacific Co.
WA census (which may or may not be my father) is his arrival in California.
Earliest records are;
1. San Diego Directories have Joe Chandler listed from 1926.
2. Marriage record and application of Joe's marriage in San Diego Co. in
1930.
3. Social Security application filled out from San Diego Co. in 1937.
4. Employment application forms from RR Express.
5. Divorce papers from San Diego Court records.
6. Retirement application from Railroad.
7. 1984 Death Certificate.
Thanks for your time;
Sincerely;
Dave Chandler

Last week someone wrote about a Lucinda/Louisa Chandler, they were twins.
Lucinda was my gg-grandmother, Lucinda Chandler-Wilson, m. to William B.
Wilson. She was b. on Lyon Co. , Ky moved to Jackson Co. Ill. until Wm.B.
died of a Civil War wound, then moved back to KY. I believe this person had
some questions. I am sorry , I just got around to thinking of answering that
inquiry, I "TRY" to keep good notes about answering things that may pertain
to family. Whoever you are, feel free to write t me.

The 1880 census has James, age 42, and Roxanna, age 27, with son Charles, 2
months. James is listed as born in IN and both his parents are said to be
born in England. Roxanna is born in IN, parents PA. There is also Nancy
Jones, 52, mother-in-law of James--she and her parents born in PA. I have
looked at both the LDS CD set for the 1880 census and the image of the

to think the name was.
There's also a Susan Fultz, or so says the extraction. In the LDS set she
is in a separate household with Gertrude Fultz, her daughter, age 2, however
on the actual page she is clearly in the same household and is listed as
cousin and is born in PA.
Then I have a Robert Chandler b. 1831 in Delaware.

I don't find any of them in 1880 in Indiana.
I am looking for William Chandler born around 1810 in Virginia. William
married Julia Harrod of Harrodsburg, Virginia. I understand they were
married in Franklin, Kentucky, and they remained in Kentucky. They had
a son named John Martin Chandler born around 1834. According to one
researcher, who kindly provided me with some information, they also had
other children as follows: Nancy; Mary Ann; Louisa; Stephen; Elizabeth;
William; Sarah; Lucinda; Sam; and Martha Chandler. Unfortunately, even
with the names of the additional children, I still cannot find out
anything further on William Chandler or his ancestors. If any one can
place this family I would love to hear from you.
Hi, I'm looking for any info., on the Chandler family living in Delphi, IN. Hello List,
I am seeking information on the line of Timothy Chandler , his son William
Chandler and his daughter Elizabeth Chandler. I believe Elizabeth ( her
name may have been Mary Elizabeth)may have been from Appomattox County VA.
I am just beginning my research on this line and I have no further info or
dates .
I have been researching the Coleman line. Elizabeth married Benjamin
Coleman from VA. He too may have been from Appomattox County VA or
Cumberland.
Their son John J. Coleman bought acreage in Fayette County, VA. (WV) He was
a school teacher and a lawyer.
Does anyone have any information on any of these people that they could
share??
I would appreciate any help you could provide.
Thank you!!

Hello...
Is there anyone on this list who might know about a Mary Lucy Chandler
who was married to Elisha Emerson in Lyme, Connecticut in about 1824.
The age given on the 1850 census indicates her date of birth to be about
1791.
Many thanks...
Linda Emerson
