Fellow Researchers,
I have just put on-line a page I'm starting for Lawrence County, KY

If you know of any GOOD resources (especially if they're still available
for purchase), please let me know and I'll add them to the list. I'm still
checking on the availability of George Wolfford and Geneva Hughes' books.
And I'm waiting for replies about some of the census for Lawrence County.
But if you know where some resources are available let me know!!!

I am seeking information regarding Robert I. Chandler, born abt 1811 in
NC. He married Cintha (unknown) abt 1832 (Date and place unknown). She
was born abt 1838, also in NC. His second wife was Rama Jane
(unknown). It is known that Robert and Cintha were in AL from 1833 to
abt 1837. They moved to McNairy County, TN where their family grew up.
I would appreciate any information on maiden names of his wives,
parents, siblings - any information available. Fred McKenzie.
I was recently doing research in a library when I found a book called
"Sketches of Successful New Hampshire Men". There are 88 descriptions of
people's lives in the book, two of which are Chandlers -- WILLIAM E.
CHANDLER and GEORGE BYRON CHANDLER. William E. was Assistant Secretary of
the Treasury during Abraham Lincoln's administration and George Byron was a
banker.
The book was published in 1882. There are steel portraits of William E.
and George Byron, as well as their signatures. The description of George
Byron's life is 2 pages, and William E.'s description is 7 pages. Their
careers are detailed, as well as their families.
I am not related to these Chandlers, but I thought some people on the list
might be interested in these descriptions. If you are, email me and I'll
do my best to give you the information you want. The library let me check
the book out and I have it until 10/31. I was surprised that they let me
check it out since the book is more than 100 years old!

My great-grandfather was Alexander Glenn Wall born 1862 in Black Mingo
in Williamsburg County, SC. There are several Wall families in the Black
Mingo area, but I am just starting with my Wall research, and I have yet
to
make any connection with these other families. I hope to make contact
with
Walls who have or had family in that area or in the surrounding counties
of
Georgetown or Marion. A.G. Wall married Frances Elizabeth "Fannie"
Chandler on December 21, 1878. My grandparents were members of Bethel
Baptist
Church in Olanta, SC, and they lived there for many years until they
moved into
my grandfather's home in Timmonsville in the late 1930s.
I have many old family records belonging to my great-grandfather,
but none are from the time he was a child or adolesecent other than an
old Union
Reader and the letters he wrote to my great-grandmother during their
courtship. Most of the other papers were from the time my grandparents
lived in Olanta.
I have just sent for documents for A.G.Wall. If any of these names
or places sound familiar, please contact me. I will be glad to share as
I
learn more.
I have the other parts of my mother's family in good shape, and I need
to get started on the Walls.
Thanks for your help.
Sincerely,
Fran at email: Tabkatz(a)aol.com
P.S. There may be more links to the Chandlers. Another Chandler
researcher and I both have Wall ancestors but can't find the link.

Dear Nancy,
Please feel free to post to the Chandler list. I joined three at once
(?!)
and thought more would push it. I may join later. I have LOTS of
Chandler
info from Bill Chandler of Hemingway, SC and several other Chandler
researchers in LA and NC if you want to mention that, also. Maybe I have
something someone else can use in their search.
Thanks,
Fran at email address: Tabkatz(a)aol.com
