Can anyone identify this John William Chancey. Who was his parents. Need info concerning
his wife Jewell Cobb also.

John W. Chancey
John William "J.W." Chancey died Aug. 30 at Candler Hospital.
He was a native of Pierce County and attended Glynn County public schools. He was a Navy
veteran of World War II and received citations for heroic duties. He was featured in a
book, "Forever and Ever Amen," citing him for heroic achievements. He retired
from Union Camp after 37 years as a crane operator on the woodyard. He was a member of
Laurelview Hunting Club in Midway, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post No.
135. He was a charter member of West Park Country Club, a Baptist and a resident of west
Chatham County the past 35 years.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Jewell Cobb Chancey of Garden City; three daughters and three
sons-in-law, Diane and Terry Williamson and Deborah and Richard Moone, all of Pooler, and
Brenda and Tony Malone of Charleston; a brother, Eugene Chancey of Garden City; and five
granddaughters, a grandson and several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Fox and Week Funeral Directors, Massey Chapel in Garden
City.
FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Massey Chapel, burial in
Hillcrest Abbey West.
