Hello Queechie,
How are things with you? I have not had any extended time available for research, but
still read the message board. Thanks for the history lesson. I am pretty good, usually,
on such things but this one I could not find. I know these county boundaries and such
have been changed over the years but had not heard of this one at all.

New River County Florida did not survive with that name very long. I did know how long,
but have forgotten.
The Chanceys lived near Stark, now...Bradford County Florida
1860 - New River [Bradford] County - Starke, Fla.
Zacharia Chancey - 55 - male -- farmer - value of personal estate - 100 -- POB - Georgie
Celia Chancey - 42 female -- POB - Ga.
Celia Bohannon - 16 - female - farm laborer - POB -Ga.
Dunkin Bohannon - 9 - male - POB - Ga.
John Alford - 74 - male - Teacher - value of personal estate - 60 - POB 0 S. Carolina
Bradford County is bordered to the north by Baker (and almost Duval) Counties, Clay to the
east, and Alachua and Putnam to the south.
This was the layout in 1895, I do not have an uptodate Florida map currently..but the
above should get you close.
In my (undocumented) notes I show Celia's sister Rebecca, b. 1808 married to James K.
Bohannon. Ch: Celia Bohannon b. February 11, 1842, Malinda Bohannon b. 1846 and Duncan
Bohannon b. 1851.
Celia Bohannon married James McKinney (no dates at all). Nothing further for Malinda or
Dunkin
PWG Vol. 4, add & corrections page 341..GRIFFIS, SAMUEL (pg. 105 vol.1)..There was
also another daughter named Celia, born 1818; she married Zachariah Chancey; they had no
children. Mr. and Mrs. Chancey moved from Clinch County to New River (Bradford County)
Fla., about 1857, and died there.
