Thanks for important new information. My Thomas Chance married Elizabeth Tinstman
(Dientsman), descended from (Johan Theiss/Dheis) Dunschmann 1345, Germany, the name having
evolved from Dunschmann to Dunschman to Tunschman, to Tintsman, to Tinstman/Dientsman and
possibly beyond). I have found a Benjamin Chance in Bedford County, PA, in 1791. Thomas
and Elizabeth had 11 children: Mary b. 28 Feb 1834; Alpheus b. 17 June 1836; Sarapta b.
17 Jun 1838; Caroline b. 10 Feb 1841; Thomas H. b. 12 Jan 1843; John T. b. 5 Sep 1845;
Elizabeth b. 6 Sep 1848; Perry Hazard b. 4 Apr 1851; (infant) b. 15 Apr 1853; Oliver
Kendall b. 26 Jun 1854; Charlotte b. 6 Jun 1857; Milroy b. 10 Sep 1861 (did not survive
infancy). Alpheus and Thomas H both "went back to Indiana" from apparently
Minnesota to enlist in Indiana Volunteer Militia and survived the Battle of Shiloh, per
Indiana State Library records. Yes, let's share. Thanks, Lois Kelly
