Joseph Marion Chance, aged 63, of the Cypress Valley community practically all his
life, died at his home
near Vilonia last night. Mr. Chance lived at Clarkton, MO, from 1936 to 1942, and
his body will be sent there
for burial. He was born August 18, 1880. He was a Baptist. Survivors include six
sons, Charles and Roy Chance
of Little Rock, Cpl. John Chance, with the army in Italy, Sgt James Henry Chance of
March Field, Calif, Cpl Jesse Chance of Camp White, Or, and Hermus Edward Chance of
Harrison; two daughters, Mrs. Letha Nicholson and Miss Wanda Dean Chance of Vilonia; a
brother, P.O. Chance of Enola, and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at
McNutt's funeral home at 10:30 am Friday by Rev. Hugh Owen.
This appeared in the paper in 1944.
The P.O. Chance mentioned in the obit was my great-grandfather. They also had a
brother Jesse Coleman Chance.
Since Jesse is not mentioned in this obit, we could assume he died before 1944? I
have no info on the death/burial
of Jesse Chance.
Does anyone recogonize any of these names? I am searching for the parents of the
Chance brothers.
