I am going to jump in here...........my Great-Grandfather was Purnel Oscar
Chance and he had a son that was
named Purnel Chance. The first time I find my great-grandfather he is 13
years old living in Faulkner Co, Arkansas
in the household of Barney and Mary Heffington, (We knew he was raised by
Barney & Mary) so I know this is him.
on the 1880 Census for Muddy Bayou, Faulkner Co, AR it lists Purnel Chance
and list his father from IN.....I am sure
he is part of this family, but have been unable to make the connection. His
death certificate lists his parents as
John J and Ellen Chance, however, his living grandchildren, including my
mother, disputes this. They say they
never knew who his parents were.
