COPPELL, TEXAS - Carl P. Chance, 63, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) passed
away unexpectedly on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at his home near Dallas.
Carl was born Sept. 30, 1951, in Youngstown, a son of the late Philip and Stella Push
Chance, and lived in this area until moving to Texas in the early 1980s.
A graduate of Chaney High School, Carl earned his bachelors degree from Youngstown State
University.
After moving to Dallas, Carl worked for many years for Icon Voice Networks as a field
engineer supervisor.
He had a great love of cars, and was especially proud of the black Corvette and the black
Pontiac GTO that he owned.
In Texas, Carl met and married the love of his life, Valerie E. Holmes Chance, to whom he
was married for 14 happy years.
Carl lost Valerie on Sept. 27, 2014, following her courageous battle with a lengthy
illness.
Carl leaves to cherish his memory, his elder brother, Joseph (Debi) Chance of San
Francisco; three sisters, Cheryl (Ted) Lengyel of Columbus, Ohio, Marilyn (Steve)
Wakefield of Austintown, OH and Tyna Chance of Youngstown; two nephews, Christopher and
Bryce; a niece, Janessa;
Family and friends may gather from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, at Our Lady of
Sorrows Parish, Holy Name of Jesus Church, 613 N. Lakeview Ave., Youngstown, where a
memorial Mass for Carl and his beloved wife, Valerie, will follow at 10 a.m.
Local arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd.,
Youngstown.
