SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. - Loretta "Red" Chance Bucher, 75, formerly of Youngstown,
passed away peacefully Sept. 16, 2012, from complications of Alzheimer's Disease and
cancer.
Loretta was the youngest of 12 children (six girls and six boys), born Aug. 16, 1937, in
Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) to the late Carl and Angeline Chance.
She was a 1955 graduate of Chaney High School, and had lived down south and out west for
many years.
Red and her husband, Jay, never forgot the Chance family Youngstown roots, often visiting
relatives locally for family reunions, weddings, and special occasions, and she kept in
touch with her Chaney High School classmates.
Loretta had lived at Sunrise Assisted Living in Scottsdale for the last two and a half
years.
Mrs. Bucher is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Jay Bucher, whom she married in
Youngstown on Feb. 14, 1968; a son, Rick Bucher and daughter Angela (Brad) Seitzer; two
grandchildren, Carson and Teegan; two stepsons, Jeff and Scott; seven grandchildren, who
knew her as "Grandma Red," Michael, Logan, Hunter, David, Peyton, Piper, and
Brighton; three brothers, Joe (Gloria) Chance, Tom (Marie) Chance, and Albert (Cecelia)
Chance; many nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and many
great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Phyllis Romeo, Rose Chance,
Anita Greico, Mary Jane Bielik, and Norma Mahon; and brothers, James Chance, Carl Chance,
and Philip Chance.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 24, in Scottsdale.
Family and friends locally are encouraged to attend a memorial Mass for Loretta at 6 p.m.
on Thursday, Sept. 27, at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 613 N. Lakeview Ave., Youngstown.
