My great grandfather was Pernell Oscar Chance. He was
rasied around the Barney Community, Faulkner Co, AR.
He was raised by Barney and Mary Heffington. I don't know
the connection, if any, between Pernell and the Heffington's.
Pernell Oscar Chance Married Martha Duritta McDonald/McDaniel. I have the family from this marriage to
the present, but the only thing I know about his early life
is that he had 2 brothers Joe and Jess.
Both Pernell and Martha are buried in the Brown Cemetery
at Enola, Faulkner Co, AR.

The only notes I have is of Daniel b. 5-16-1845 Scioto Ohio d. 6-2-1913 in Red River Co.; married Mary Ann Harrison on 11-24-1866. Mary Ann (Harrsion), b.1847-Ohio d. 3-11-1929. Both are buried in Friendship Cemetary - just outside of Paris Tx., near Bairdstown. Daniel served in Co. E Reg.5, Co. K 1st Reg. in the W.Va. Infantry - discharged in Cumberland Md. 7-21-1865. I have a copy of the muster roll. The only other information I have from the 1910 census from Texas is that his father was born in Pa and his mother - Ohio. The 1880 Mo census lists Daniel and Mary Ann as living in Shannon County, Pike Creek Mo.
Thanks for your interest..Ellen

My research of the 1910 census shows my grandparents ( Harve/Myrtle) Chance and my gr-grandparents (Daniel/Mary Ann Chance) living in Glory Village. My aunts were Orel, Gladys and Faye. The oldest-Orel was 19 years older than my mother, Billie. I tried to spot Glory once, I believe it is a 'spot' now. My gr-fa. may have worked in a general store there at one time. By the time my uncle James and mom were born, the family was living in Paris. We have relations with the Hix, Kennemer, Mahon and Hutching family - but I don't know many but a few of the Hix family. It's nice to know someone else knows about Glory. I found the postmaster description of it in 1880 - apparently his glowing descriptions of his stores surroundings resulted in the post office being called GLory rather than Richland as he had requested. THe post office was discontinued 6-15-15 and mail was routed to Howland...
