Hi all,
I have a couple of puzzles I have been unable to solve and I am hoping
others in this group can help me.
Elizabeth Stanton, daughter of Capt. Daniel Stanton and Elizabeth Brown
married Joseph Champlin. Who is this Joseph Champlin? Who are his parents?
The only information I have I copies from "A record, genealogical,
biographical, statistical, of Thomas Stanton, of Connecticut, and his
descendents, 1635-1891" by Author: Stanton, William A. The year of
publication is 1891 by Albany: J. Munsell. The subjects are Stanton,
Thomas, 1614 or 15-1677., Stanton family. The excerpt is:
709. Capt. Daniel Stanton (6 Joseph2), b. in Westerly; bapt. April 1 1694;
m. (1) Mercy, dau. of Job BABCOCK, of Westerly, and had:
720 I Daniel4, Jr., b. ; m. Mary Wilcox.
The first wife, Mercy, died and Daniel2 m. (2) Elizabeth, dau. of George and
Charity BROWN, of Westerly, R. I. By her he had:
721 II Samuel4, b. ; m. Sarah Browning.
722 III John4, b. Feb., 1722; m. Dorothy Richardson.
723 IV Joseph4, b. ; Abigail Sheffield, March 6, 1748
V George4, b. ; d. unmarried.
724 VI Mary4, b. ; m. Thos. Richardson.
**** VII Elizabeth4, b. ; m. Joseph Champlin; no issue.
Did 709 Daniel Stanton m. (3) Prudence, dau of Rev. Salmon and Dorothy
(Noyes) Treat? She m. a Daniel Stanton, of
Coventry, as his 3rd wife. They were m. Dec 10, 1762, ;and he d. Dec 28,
1773. This is the only Daniel Stanton who, in 1762, was of suitable age to
marry said Prudence and who had had two wives.
Also, does anyone know who the Joseph Champlin is who was midshipman on the
ship Oliver Cromwell from 10 May to 1 Jun 1779?
If anyone can help me I would be very grateful.
Thanks,
Reba
