Dear Connie:
The white American Champlins all descend from Jeffrey Champlin who first
settled in Rhode Island in the 1630's. Jeffrey was from a Champlin family
that lived in Devonshire and had connections to Fayal, Azores.
I haven't done much work with the family in England except to record all the
Champlins or near Champlins (i.e.: Champlyn, Champlain, etc) that I come
across for future reference. I haven't recorded any in Westmoreland.
There are Champlins in Australia too but they all come from a Devonshire
Champlin as well.
I'm sorry that I couldn't have a positive answer for you.
Bob

Subject: [CHAMPLIN] Camplin/Docker from Westmorland, England
My relatives spelled their name Camplin, but since there is no Camplin list
serve, please consider my problem.
I have a Thomas Camplin b in Newby, Westmorland in l796, who m. Margaret
Docker.
They had issue. I don't know the names of their children. Margaret was
ch. on 30 JAN l807 in Bampton, Westmoreland. The couple married in l836, and
Thomas died in l884. Any suggestions? I want to communicate with
descendants of this couple so badly!!!
Could this Thomas be part of your family?
