Still trying to connect the above John CHAMPION to his family. Believe he
may have been related to the Joseph CHAMPION of Berkeley County, WV and
Frederick County, VA dating back to 1794.
John migrated to Mercer County in the late 1790's with a group of people
including the DAVIS family. He died in 1811 and his widow and children left
Mercer County for Crawford and Harrison Counties in Indiana along with the
McMURTRY family and others. They eventually ended up in Knox County,
Illinois where John CHAMPION's son-in-law, William McMURTRY was Lieutenant
Governor in the 1840's. Here is a short outline on the family. Hope

Sorry, I don't know where they went. All I know is that they were brothers
born at Sheepscombe, Gloucestershire between 1866 and 1871 and emigrated to
North America.
