Thank you Phil for your reply..I will join the Surrey list.
John James Fitcher Champion buried 2 Aug 1934 Richmond St Mary Magdalene.
( Nationa l Burial Index) Married Mary Holmes 21 Dec 1823 Isleworth London
MDX, she died 16 July 1848 Richmond Workhouse. Surrey Poor Law records.(
Husband stated as James Fletcher Champion and amended a year later) Children
Edwin John 1825, Mary 1 Dec 1827 William ( came to Australia) 9 Dec 1931 and
James 9 March 1834. On Champion
Gealnealogy.com have found the famileis of
Edwin John. James and Mary were also in the Poor House note James was only
a babe when his father died.
I am interested in a James in the USA 1880 census who was born in England
and born
1834. ( I havent got around to checking this but someone on the list may
know this family Unfortunately JJFC died while children were young so no
stories etc. My great grandfather thought that his grandfather may have
been overseas ( from England) according to what he had been told so he may
have returned from USA or been a soldier..or not!! It is unusual for someone
to have four names on certificates etc..Where does the Fitcher or Fletcher
come in?

Hi Penny
I don't have info about John James Fitcher CHAMPION, but I'll help if I
can. Can you give me more details? i.e. sources for the information you
gave.
Also the Surrey Rootsweb list may help - see
http://www.melcombe.freeserve.co.uk/surrey/intro.htm.
Good luck, Phil.
