Hi Dorothy,
Thanks for the note from my genealogy site e-mail. The return of the
bible certainly is heartwarming.
There isn't a Champion connection with our Hugh Champions.
Parents of both Hugh and Levinia are well documented...all from
Cornwall, England.
HUGH CHAMPION was born at Pen Pal, Hayle, Cornwall, England on
September 7, 1838. He immigrated to Gregory Gulch, Colorado
Territory in 1861 to do hard rock-mining. He died of silicosis in
Central City on January 1, 1886, at the age of 48. He was buried in
the family lot in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Central
City. His burial site is in front of the large Champion stone and is
marked Father.
LEVINIA PERRY CHAMPION was born at Pen Pal, Hayle Cornwall, England
June 26, 1837. She immigrated to America in 1863, to join Hugh
Champion. They were married at Central City, Colorado on September
26, 1863. She died at the age of 75 at Central City on April 7,
1912. Her body was placed in the family lot in the Knights of
Pythias Cemetery in Central City, beside that of her husband, Hugh,
and six of their ten children. Her burial site is in front of the
large "Champion" stone and is marked "Mother."
Parents of both Hugh and Levinia are well documented..all from
Cornwall, England.
I guess no one is moderating the once active champion list. too Bad.
The Champion name is spread far and wide.
