Jan,
"You didn't give dates for your Nathaniel Champion. My William is s/o Rev.
Joseph Champion (1768-1828)and Sarah Smith (1778-1854); Rev. Joseph Champion
was third son of Nathaniel Champion who died in 1813. His wife was Sarah
Ingersoll who died 1855."
The only date I have for Nathaniel is the birth of his daughter, Emeline, 1832. This
excludes your Nathaniel who died in 1813. Spouse, listed on death certificate of
daughter Emeline, as Mary LAYTON. It appears my Nathaniel may have died after
Emeline's birth but before the 1850 Census.
Note: A Margaret LAYTON married a Nathaniel CHAMPION in Cumberland Co.,
NJ, prior to 1832. Not sure if these are the same persons, but it's in the realm of
possibility.
I have had lookups done by SKS in the RCC book with negative results. I have
"walked"
the cemetery at Head of the River Church, same result. However, quite a few CHAMPIONs,
INGERSOLLs,
STEELMANs and SCULLs are burried there.
I am sending some SMITH & SOMERS data to your email address.
