Dave,
I hope you noticed my e-mail to the LANHAM List. I'm starting to believe
that my Samuel is the Samuel L. LANHAM, age 13, in the Sarah LANHAM household
in 1860 Washington Co KY. I further believe that Sarah was the widow of
Asberry LANHAM, in whose household (Marion County) Sarah and Samuel LANHAM
also appear in 1850.
The close association of my Samuel L. LANHAM and your line (Thomas) in 1880
Monroe Co MO suggests to me that Asberry and your Thomas were brothers, both
being sons of Levi LANHAM. Does this sound right?
I realize now that the 1907 obituary for Samuel LANHAM from Sedalia may have
been from a different Sedalia, not the one in Pettis Co MO. There is a
Sedalia in Graves Co in western KY, which I'll pursue as a possibility. I'm
still hoping your contact might come through, as this could be a particularly
important record for me.
I've found a CHAMPION household in Indian Creek Twp, Monroe Co MO in 1860
(Mary F. CHAMPION, page 150). I'm wondering if that could be where I'm going
to find Martha (born c1850 in MO; her parents both born in KY). Martha
CHAMPION and Samuel LANHAM married in Washington Co KY in 1873, and then show
up back in Indian Creek Twp, Monroe Co MO by 1880 (the record you posted this
evening). Lots of bouncing between KY and MO, as for your folks.
Kathy or Dave: Do you have Asberry (born c1810 KY) as a son of Levi and a
brother of your Thomas? And do you know the maiden name of his wife Sarah
(MEADOWS?)
Thanks for sharing this information.
