Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

[CHAMPION] Re: Genealogy

I'm in. I just looked over the archives and can not believe the junk.
Thank you for doing something. That last message to you, posted to the
entire list is maddening. I saw it before your message. That person
needs to be thrown off. I was going to send message but saw yours, let
me know what you want me to do to get this straightened out.

I have sent in my request to start a new list, and the reason why it's
needed. From what I can tell, our "administrator" has someone else watch-
dogging the
list. If the admin really cared, they would take care of it themselves,
instead of trusting this other person to do it. This other person has let
a lot of
this crap slip by, and I for one am sick of it. If anyone else is
interested
in joining a list with an admin. who cares about genealogy and the
rootsweb
requirements, just let me know!!!! You may email me direct, don't bother
the list
with it. I'm sure they are too busy trying to tell everyone else what to
believe, or belittling them for having an opinion.

My Champion descendants have gone from the US to England. Descendants
currently live on a place where there is a champion burial(2)-- unfortunately not
ours!! ours came to America and has had much written about him but little from
England(Thomas Champion from Ashford, Kent 1634, settled on what is now Long

Hey folks, those interested in genealogy, I think I'm gonna unsubscribe and
start my own Champion list. You know, one that deals with GENEALOGY, NOT

Why is this the one list, of all the lists I subscribe to that can't follow
the rules????? This is ridiculous. GENEALOGY PEOPLE!!!!!!!! ISN'T THAT WHY
WE'RE DOING THIS??? I honor all of your opinions, and your right to have them I
have a few of my own, but I'm not going to bother everyone else with them. Can
we get bac to genealogy again??

And Barbie you do the human race and the Champion bloodline proud with your
statement. Whether anyone likes it or not above anything else we are all
members of the human race and no matter what country we are from we should
honor the men and women who fight and die not only on battlefields but in
everyday acts of heroism! This includes soldiers, police, firemen, medical
personnel, or just plain Joe or Jane who does no more than stop to help a
fellow human in everyday life!!!

Cliff;
As a Veteran I thank you so very much for your patriotism and
your remembrance of those who paid the ultimate price for freedom. If it
were not for the patriotism and heroism of Americans; our English cousins
would be very fluent in a required German language these days.
That was a very good thing to do; I commend you! Americans
continue to die each day for freedom in many distant lands; all because
we love our freedom and desire that others also know such freedom.

Re: [CHAMPION] MEMORIAL DAY: 26 MAY 2003 FALLEN WARRIORS, FALLEN PATRIOTS
by Phil Champion
I don't object to remembering the dead. I do take issue with 'honoring'
soldiers who died while prosecuting a war which many feel is more about
US economic interests than preventing terrorism.
Yes, lets remember all those who die in war or conflict. Remember the
100,00 children who died in Iraq as a result of the sanctions regime
(and in part to the tyranical dictatorship or Saddam Husein, for whose
departure I shed no tears). Remember the 7000 or more civilians who died
in Iraq as a direct result of the War (source: www.iraqbodycount.net ).
While we're at it lets remember sixteen-year-old Mohammed Nazim Amin
Mahmoud, who was shot dead by an Israeli military sniper while he was
coming home from school in Tulkarem yesterday morning (source
www.palsolidarity.org )
Or my friend Tom Hurndall who lies braindead in a hospital bed after
taking a Israeli snipers bullet in the head. Tom was trying to resuce
palestinian children who were pinned down by bullets and fear in a
palestinian street last month when he was gunned down
Lets mourn them all.
I objected personally to the tone of the posting, and its irrelelevance
to genealogy. The War and related subjects are 'banned' on rootsweb
lists - see the discussion last month -
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/CHAMPION/2003-03
To get back to the subject of Champion genealogy, I'd be interested to
here from anyone on this list (at least those who refrain from abusing
me) with connections with CHAMPIONs in Cornwall in 18th and nineteenth
century. I'll post up more details when I have my files to hand

Please refrain from sending this kind of off topic material to Rootsweb

[CHAMPION] MEMORIAL DAY: 26 MAY 2003 FALLEN WARRIORS, FALLEN PATRIOTS
by Clifford S. Fiveash
MEMORIAL DAY 26 MAY 2003 FALLEN WARRIORS, FALLEN PATRIOTS
We, as a Nation, are mindful of and honor today, ALL our fallen warriors
and patriots, who went forth on the fields of battle, sacrificing their
lives to ensure and keep secure the blessings of liberty and freedom, which
we Americans enjoy and sometimes take for granted. It is especially fitting
that , given the ongoing War on Terrorism, we focus on those who have
fallen in this endeavor, those who are still in harms way and their
families, who have "holes in their hearts" and "empty places at their
tables" today. Please take the time to read EACH of the names listed below,
reflect on each one's sacrifice....FOR YOU and perhaps, say a prayer for
their souls and for the solace of their families, left behind, with the
terrible grief and loss. While doing this, try not to be too "impatient"
with those still fighting, the "ups an downs" of events and the time
they're taking in securing the peace.
God Bless America and All of It's Fallen Warriors, Fallen Patriots
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fallen Patriots
"Taps" drifting over carved marble stones.
Tiny flags standing in smart ranks like an honor guard
We come this day to remember those who fell
The youthful and the seasoned alike
Volunteer or conscripted, doesn't matter which
Most did not a heros medal gain
Yet all were patriots for what they did
They went; they served and they died
Some realized glory, others saw their duty clear
Yet, not all dreamed a patriots dream
Or really understood their countrys call
But all knew well of fear and death
How shall we remember them?
By bugle strain or tear stained cheek?
Or by their bones that feed the grassy roots?
No! By the free air and soil they bought for us
At the highest price of all
But these are not alone
They have brothers and sisters
that do not sleep beneath the stones
Who also went and served
And stand now and remember
Young man, do not scoff at this remembrance
Rather, accept their gift.
They have given you the freedom to scoff if you want
But refrain and remember instead
And as you do, stand a little straighter
Turn your eyes to that banner fluttering yonder
On which they once gazed and still do
And sing the anthem loud,
For the courageous and strong have sung it before you
And were not timid in it.
Now , as you go from this hallowed place
Do not forget them that lie here
Or those that lie in places far distant
While their lives were lost,
Their gift of freedom lingers still.
"THE MANSIONS OF THE LORD"
To Fallen Soldiers, Let Us Sing,
Where No Rockets Fly, Nor Bullets Wing,
Our Broken Brothers, Let Us Bring,
To The Mansions Of The LORD
No More Bleeding, No More Fight,
No Prayers Pleading Through The Night,
Just Divine Embrace, Eternal Light,
In The Mansions Of The LORD,
Where No Mother's Cry And No Children Weep,
We Will Stand And Guard, Though The Angels Sleep,
While Through The Ages, Safely Keep,
The Mansions Of The LORD
[CHAMPION] Keziah
by Tammy Lynn Collard
Keziah Champion was born Dec 18, 1816 in Tennessee and died Aug 26, 1887
in Henderson Co, NC. Her father was James. She is supposedly full
blooded Indian. Keziah married James Nathan Drake, some of their children
that may have her family names are Martha, John Kimzey, Allison Fidelia
and James Buchanan.
Does anyone recognize these folks? I am very interested to find out what
kind of Indian blood, for we thought we got it from the Drakes until
recently.
Thank you very much
