One of my great-grandmothers is Anna Champagne (married to Arthur Lussier). Her father
was Peter (Pierre) Champagne. Peter is the eldest son of Sifroy Champagne and Elise
Boucher. One of Sifroy and Elise's granddaughters (thru their son Maxmillien) wrote
a book with all of the decendants through the early 1980's. Here's Eliza's
obituary from the Red Lake Fall (Minnesota) Gazette [April 16, 1936].

Mrs. Eliza Champagne Of Brooks Dies At Home Of Daughter At Chippewa Falls, Wis., April 8

Mrs. Eliza Champagne of Brooks, nearly 95 years of age, one of the oldest residents of Red
Lake country, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ben Proulx of Chippewa Falls, Wis.,
Wednesday, April 8 after a short illness. She had been staying with her daughter since
last September.
Eliza E. Boucher was born at Ramay, Canada, May 2, 1843, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Boucher. She grew to womanhood there and was married to S. Champagne about 75
years ago.
After 18 years in Michigan they came to Red Lake county 57 years ago and took a homestead
in Poplar River. Mr. Champagne died April 9, 1924.
Eight children were born of which six survive: Joseph, Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. Ben Proulx,
Chippewa Falls, Wis.; Henry, Yakima, Wash.; Peter, Maxium and Mrs. Ozais Payment, Brooks.
She leaves many granchildren, some great-grandchildren and great-great-granchildren.
The remains arrived at Brooks Friday morning and were taken to the home of Maxium
Champagne. The funeral was held Monday morning from St. Joseph's Catholic church. A
solemn requiem high mass was sung by Rev. L. Proulx asisted by Rev. E. J. Paquin of
Terrebonne and Rev. Keough Patnode of Oklee.
The pall-bearers were six grandsons: Napoleon and Ozais Payment, Jr., Mede, Alex, Albert
and Walter Champagne. The members of St. Ann's society of Brooks, to which she
belonged, attended the services in a body.
Relatives who came from a distance for the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Ben Proulx, Mr.
and Mrs. Wm. Proulx and Mrs. Philip Beyea, all of Chippewa Falls, Wis.
