I found the following hand-written information among my mother's papers after her
death. I would love to have it validated or corrected.
A generation back, Leah (Lea) Pelland's forebears were named Bord-de-L'eau.
Leah Pelland married Narcisse Beaugrand Champagne December 7, 1887. (The mothers of both
Leah Pelland and Narcisse Beaugrand Champagne had identical names: Genevieve Bellerose,
although they were not closely related.
Children: Birthdate:
1. Pherie October 24, 1888
2. Laura January 15, 1890 (Married Joe Jalbert)
3. Flora October 20, 1891 (Flora became pregnant by her employer Will Nelson and had a son
name Ervin - who was adopted by people named Baxter)
4. Sybeal November 16, 1892
5. Beric December 26, 1894
6. (Marie) Rosealba Champagne * August 17, 1896 (Rosealba, my maternal grandmother,
married Brian (Bryan) Cafferkey (or Cafferky) (alias Alfred Riley) on February 3, 1914 in
Olds, Alberta, Canada.
7. Alex May 20, 1898
8. Marie March 15, 1900
9. Clara June 10, 1902
10. Nelson February 10, 1904
11. Antoinette March 17, 1905
12. Jermaine December 16, 1906
13. Edward October 26, 1908
In 1908, Narcisse Champagne left Leah just before the birth of their 13th child and moved
back East where reportedly he married Rosilda Morin in 1908 and had 7 more children by
her. As far as is known, Narcisse never divorced Leah so he may have been a bigamist.)
* Kathleen Rose Cafferky was the second daughter of Rosealba (born October 26 or 27, 1918)
and Bryan. Kathleen married Leslie Warren Taylor in 1939 and Arlene Rose Taylor was their
first child, born 2-1-1943. (Also had a son Allan Warren Taylor born 7-19-1946.)
Typed out for Ray Champagne by Arlene Rose Taylor, November 1, 2010.
