From India, I want to salute everyone who bore up under last
week's
attack and to send my condolences to those who lost loved ones. The
Ballantyne family has lived abroad under low and high level threat for
years, hoping that our work in some way could help prevent this from
reaching our soil. Now we are all in it together.
We are going to need help from friendly countries, African, European,
Asian, Christian, Islamic and Hindu; I think the period of
"go-it-alone" unilateralism, bordering, most recently, on arrogance ,
is now a thing of the past. I hope we can continue to act as
peacemakers in the parts of the world where we have been seeking to
reduce strife at the same time that we carry the fight to those who
have made war on us.
Bob Ballantyne,
Dependant of a courageous lady who works for the US Library of
Congress in New Delhi, India.
