Ann,
I had posted the Chamness Reunion on the Chamness site but maybe it got lost.
I just got back from vacation so don't know if you got the info or not.
Anyway, it will be in Asheboro, North Carolina, June 21 & 22. We meet in the
late afternoon on Friday the 21st, get reacquainted and eat together at a
nearby restaurant. On Saturday, the 22nd, there are several options: do
research, visit nearby historical sites, visit nearby pottery shops, go to
the zoo, or visit with each other. I am not sure what else Agnes may have
planned. Those of us who stay over Saturday night are invited to attend
church with Agnes at Providence or at Cane Creek where our ancestors Anthony &
Sarah Chamness were charter members. Agnes Hussey Stevens is our unofficial
president/tour guide as she has organized the reunions since 1998. She is
the author of The Chamness Family in America, 1997 edition. You could
probably fly into Asheville, Charlotte, or Raleigh-Durham. Asheboro is
within 2-3 hrs. driving distance from those cities. One major point I
forgot: we stay at the Comfort Inn in Asheboro, phone # 336-626-4414. They
are very good about allowing us to use their lobby for our discussions. For
some reason they aren't listed under the Choice Hotels listing on the
internet, but they are there and have taken my reservation for this June. If
you would like more info, feel free to contact Agnes Hussey Stevens who lives
a short distance from Asheboro. Her phone # is 336-495-3250. I hope you
will be able to make it to the reunion.
Your cousin, Jane Lesh
