Hi, I have not been following this because of my illnesses. However, I can
state that there was a Jesse Chambliss in Jones County Ga in the early
1800's census. At the same time, living nearby, there was a Drury Hodges.
His ancestors traveled to Ga from Va to NC to SC to GA. From Ga they also
went west.
Some further Chambliss info:
Chambliss, A. C. private March 18, 1864 . Surrendered, Greensboro, N. C.
April 26,1865 .
Chambliss, William L. Enlisted as a private in Co. K, 1st Regiment Ga.
Inf.
(Ramsey's), June 4, 1861 . Mustered out at Augusta, Ga. March 18, 1862 .
Enlisted as a private in Co. A, 32d Regiment Ga. Inf. May 5, 1862 .
Surrendered, Greensboro, N. C. April 26, 1865 . (Born in Monroe County, Ga.
January 6, 1840, and died there May 9,1911.)
If you search the Rootsweb/Chambliss website, you will find MUCH more.
God bless you,
Betty P

Hi, Carol
It's possible that some of the Chambliss moved with the Temples to North
Carolina. Lots of the families did that. My latest Chambliss is Elizabeth,
who died in 1765 in Prince George County, Virginia. Since your Chambliss
wasn't even born until 1793, there would have been a couple of generations
between Elizabeth's male siblings and your Jesse C (the youngest being,
Henry, Jr., born abt 1703 in VA). I don't know any of the names of any of
Elizabeth's siblings' offspring, however, so am afraid that I can't help
with the connection. Henry Sr., was apparently from France and came over to
Virginia, via London. Good luck with your search!
