AGED RESIDENT PASSES OVER BOARDER
Mrs. Jane Chambliss, pioneer woman, answers death summons.
Mrs. Celia Jane Chambliss, widow of the late Mark Chambliss, and one
of the oldest residents of the city, died at 1:30 o'clock Saturday
afternoon of the infirmities of age at her home, 329 West Main Street
where she lived with her niece, Mrs. Marie Cline. She was in her
ninety-first year.
Mrs. Chambliss had been in gradually failing health for the last
twenty years, but she was not confined to her bed until last Monday when
she was taken suddenly ill of intestional trouble, she was considered in
her usual state of health.
Mrs. Chambliss was born June 1, 1818 in Virginia, and was married
there. Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Chambliss came to Xenia
where they made their home ever after, and where both became identified
with early life of the town.
Mr. Chambliss died about five years ago. The only child left is a
daughter, Mrs. G.G. McClain.
Arrangements for the funeral have not been made.
