im seeing a pattern here
i see how easy it is to misplace a P into a B
and the accent of their name when spoken easily getting
mistranslated.
so could it be possible that this family often spelled chamnis - chamniss is easily the
history of chambliss, chambless, chamnis, chamniss, chambness, champness ?
i sure do. for where their records get cut off our records seem to pick up in so many
areas.
and there really isnt a huge argument that Henry Chamnis / Chambliss 's forefather is
from France (Robert 1603).
i may be going out on a limb but with the spelling in the Chambless family / Chambliss
family being noted in important documents as a Chamnis one MUST question this
possibility.
i study etymology of letters, and words and the different alphabets along the way. this is
a HUGE possibility going from P to B! its only a matter of interpretation of pronouncing
their name that would throw them off. not everyone could write perfect english and not
everyone understand the french accents (if in fact that is where they truly are from...you
see these people were on the run! so-to-speak)
