Seeking any information on William D. Smith, b. November 29, 1802 in Alabama, d. circa

William married Ann Stuckey on January 14, 1828 in Lawrence County, Mississippi. Ann was
born in Georgia about

following Children:

Mary Smith, born about 1831 in Lawrence County, Mississippi.
Laura Smith, born about 1833 in Lawrence County, Mississippi.

Grimes County, Texas.
Liberty Belle Smith, born about 1843 in Mississippi and died about 1901 in Grimes
County, Texas.
Christopher Columbus Smith, born May 8, 1848 in Rankin County, MS and died in Liberty
Co., TX, July 16, 1906
John P. Smith, born about 1850 in Rankin County, Mississippi.
Sarah Ann Smith, born about 1852 in Rankin County, ms
William D. and Ann (Stuckey) Smith appeared in the 1840 census of Attalla County, MS
with five children that fit the age
profiles of William Jr., Mary, Laura, Warren and Almeda.
The William D. Smith household appears in the 1850 census of Rankin County, MS. They
were living near Jackson,
Mississippi at the time of the 1850 census:

The family left Mississippi in 1852-53 and moved to Texas. They came by boat from New
Orleans to Galveston, and then
by wagon to Grimes County, TX. They settled near the Keith community adjacent to Daniel
Stuckey (At least one Stuckey
researcher believes that Daniel Stuckey is Ann's brother).
I've also found the family in the 1860 Census in Grimes County, TX where they are
living near Daniel Stuckey:

Note that by 1860, William D. Smith is missing and Ann is listed as head of household.
Also note that William Jr., Mary
and Laura are gone from the household but there is another daughter Sarah Ann, born
about 1852.
According to family tradition, William D. Smith is believed to have at least one other
son, Sidney Smith, born of another
marriage in Liberty County, Texas.
William D. Smith was living in Liberty County, TX at the time of his death (believed to
be sometime after 1860). He was
living on the family farm of Sydney Smith Woodworth and Arnarene Armalega (Jarrette)
Woodworth, located about five
miles north northwest of the town of Liberty in Liberty County, Texas. William D. Smith
was buried in a small family
cemetery, possibly located on the Woodworth farm or a nearby farm in the Sandune
community. These facts concerning
William's death were related to William's son, Christopher Columbus Smith by
Sydney S. Woodworth's daughter, Jessie
Lucretia Cook Chambliss, sometime between 1902 and 1906.
I am interested in establishing contact with any descendants or relatives of William D.
Smith and Ann Stuckey. I'm also
interested in contacts with descendants of the Sydney S. Woodworth family and the Robert
Littleton Chambliss family who
may have knowledge of the location of the Woodworth farm near Sandune in Liberty County,
Texas.
