The Order of The First Families in Mississippi 1699 - 1817: Jesse Harper and Georgia
Martha Jones' daughter Druscilla [Jones Harper] married Peter C. Chambliss.

(Library of Congress Cataloging). Peter Corbin Chambliss served in the War of 1812. He
fought in the battle of New Orleans. At a meeting of the militia of Mississippi
Territory: To Brigader General Claiborne: The undersigned whose term has just expired
being about to returen to their homes, desire to express their high appreciation of your
military and personal character, and of your uniform kindness and attention to your
officers and men....... Signed: Peter C. Chambliss and several others.
Jefferson Co., MS Census for 1820 Head of household Peter C. Chambliss, 2 males under 10
(2), 1 male (26-45) and 1 female (16-26).
Peter and Noah Barlow, jointly bought 560 acres of Public land in Mississippi in December
of 1840.
Carroll Co. MS. Pioneers by Heritage books, Inc. shows Peter as buying land in Carroll Co.
MS in 1833, two tracks of 82.96 acres each at township 21 Range 4E and 160.46 acres in
township 21 Range 2E.
"1819 - 1849 Abstradex of Annual Returns of Mississippi Freemasons" - Peter C.
Chambliss FC; 1827 R; 1831 Suspended; 1832 Reinstated; 1840 Member; 1841 Suspended; 1843
Member; 1846 Reinstated, demitted (to discontinue membership while in good standing,
usually to go to another lodge.)
Jefferson Co. MS Court - July Term 1855
In the matters of of the estate of Peter C. Chambliss deed - Ordered by the court that an
account of John Watts against the estate of said decendent for the sum of $329.00. Proven
by the additional testimony of F. J. Chambliss - Motion to confirm schedule of debts.
Calvin T. Chambliss one of the executors of the will of said decendent having appointed
and filed in this court and inventory of all and singular the money belonging to and debts
due the said decendent at the time of his death and the court upon examination thereof
being satisfied that the same is made and sworn to in strict conformity to the statute, in
his behalf, does thereupon order that the same be approved. Confirmed and Recorded.
