I was looking up Chamlees at the Bureau of Land Management Internet Site for
the state of MO. I found My Riley Chamlee had received a homestead site of
80
acres in 1872 in Greene co., MO. I knew he was in the area at the time so
that wasn't a surprise, just nice extra documentation. But, I also found an
Admirour J. Chamlee that had received a Homestead tract of 160 acres in Texas
Co., MO on April 20, 1874. I have no idea if Admirour and my Riley are
connected. Does anyone have any information on Admirour? While I'm at it,
does anyone out there that I haven't talked with before know of my Riley
Chamlee? >>
Cindy,
Cindy, there are TWO Riley Chamlees that I know. One is yours, and the other
is:
Riley Hustion Chamlee, born 2 May 1848 (interesting birth date)
Died Hackett Arkansas, 1909
Married Linda Siner (in McMinn Co TN) and Jennie McDonald (in Athens, TN)
They are on the 1880 McMinn Co Tn census
This Riley's parents were William Chamlee (born May 31, 1817) and Elizabeth
Fair (27 Feb 1826 in SC according to th e1880 census). AND, William reported
his parents were born in SC also. If I remember right, William and Elizabeth
are also on the IGI on the FamilySearch program at your local FHC. Some of the
info I got from Anne who got it from Reba Boyer. I think there is a family
bible something. Ask Anne to verify this for you.
Anne and I have always reasoned that "probably" all those Chamlees in that
area of Tennessee are all interconnected. Their line might even have sat on
county lines and records thus on both sides. In the census I looked at, it
said that the William Chamlee above was born in SC. Adniron was also born in
SC if I remember right.
You are probably talking about Adniron Judson Chamlee, related to Adele & Bill
and others. Look at the spelling you say, the letter "r" is easily misread as
"n" and vice versa.
The William Chamlee above and Adniron Chamlee must be related. They are in the
same place. Adele probably told me something about this in e-mail but I
haven't transferred it into my database yet. Sandy Yarbrough, recently back
online, comes thru William and Elizabeth Fair Chamlee's youngest son,
James/John Harvey Chamlee. Perhaps you can ferret out which Riley Chamlee did
what. If All Tennessee CHAMLEE cousins compared notes you'd probably end up
being cousins. (Of course perhaps you could take an ancestral DNA test? ha ha)
Actually, it would make illogical logical sense that Adniron, William and your
Riley are all brothers. I think I've talked to Adele and others about this
possibility.
I just want to know WHO the father is from South Carolina.William was born
1817, so his father was born perhaps more/less before 1797. Wasn't Riley who
married Sarah M. Horton born before 1825? It all makes sense to me. Would take
combing all the county records around McMinn, etc. scrouging for every detail.
There are alot of possibilities in SC who the father is, Jacob had some sons
born about the same time. And, naturally, Jacob lived in east Tennessee for
while before going to SC. Interesting.
