Carolina, on Tuesday, November 7, 2000:
"CORESSA EBERHART CHAMBLEE
"ZEBULON -- Coressa Eberhart Chamblee, 94, of Guardian Care Nursing Home,
died Monday, November 6, 2000 at her residence.
"Born in Chicago on July 16, 1906, Coressa lived in London, Kentucky and
Milledgeville, Georgia. She graduated from Georgia Military College High
School in 1924, attended Berea College in Kentucky and the Georgia State
College for Women where she graduated in 1928.
"Coressa came to Zebulon in 1928 to teach at Wakelon School and taught there
until her retirement in 1971. In 1935 she married M. Wallace Chamblee who was
Wake County Commissioner, Coressa served as Sunday School Superintendent and
as one of the first deaconesses at the Zebulon Baptist Church. She was also a
member of the Zebulon Junior Woman's Club and the Zebulon Women's Club.
"Coressa was predeceased by her husband, M. Wallace Chamblee; her brother, H.
Ben Eberhart; he sister, Agnes E. Grote, Mary E. Josey and Willetta E.
Johnson.
"She is survived by four nieces and nephews: Jan G. Kennedy of Zebulon, Jean
G. Montgomery of Titusville, Florida, Fred H. Josey of Emerald Isle, N.C. and
Ben E. Josey of Ft. Walton, Florida. She is also survived by eight
grandnieces and nephews; 17 great-grandnieces and nephews, and beloved near
family, Gerry and Bob Kennedy.
"A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 2000 at the
Zebulon Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Glasgow officiating.
"In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Zebulon Baptist
Church, 400 N. Arendell Ave., Zebulon, NC 27597.
