To: ALBLOUNT-L(a)rootsweb.com
My ancestor William Washington Kelly left Blount Co., AL about 1871-1873
and went to Arkansas. On Feb. 6, 1873, his wife Mary "Polly" Chamblee
(d/o Calvin Chamblee) rented a horse and buggy to go to Arkansas. She
returned to Blount Co. on March 29, 1873, and recorded that he had died
in Arkansas. However, the exact date of death and name of the county
are omitted from all Blount Co. records we have found.
We have been told how bad conditions were in Blount Co. after the Civil
War and many people went to AR to work in the cotton fields. Does
anyone have ancestors who may have gone to AR about this time and if so,
to what counties? Perhaps W.W. Kelly may have traveled the same path or
went with others from Blount Co.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can locate the county in AR to
which W.W. Kelly may have gone or where he died?
Thanks,
Luther Kelly
