You are bidding on a wonderful reference for collectors of folk medicine,
patent medicine and patent medicine bottles, etc. This is volume 2 of
"Nostrums and Quackery," by Arthur Cramp. MD. He references and describes
thousands of patent medicines, gives their scientific analysis, lists the
contents and comments on their effectiveness. He treats quack doctors,
various fake "institutes," etc, and is an encyclopedia for 19th-century
quacks and carnival medicines, medicinal journals, etc, etc.. Some of the
potions covered: Prof. Ehrlich's 914, Dr. Chamlee's cancer Specific, mineral
waters, Antox, Baughn's Pellagra Remedy, Dexter's Headache and Antipain
Powders....you name it. Some of these are illustrated showing the bottle or
advertisements. This copy is ex-library, with various discard stickers and
stamps. Spine covered with tape. Winner adds a total of $4.00 (this is heavy)
