HI, D'Ann,
Glad you got the info. For some unknown reason, my message would not
through to the Sego site. Sent it to Darrell at the the email address he
had at the site, which was dsego(a)netusa1.net---isn't it? SEE BELOW:

I had estimated birth and death dates for Dorcas only. Are these dates
from a
tombstone or from a death record in Forsyth County?
----- The dates are from her
tombstone in the Rucker Family Cemetery in
Crabapple in north Fulton Co, GA.. I've seen them there, but I also got
them from the research done by a family member who lived "among them,"
so to speak, so I assume they are right.
One thing I KNOW is not right is the marriage record of DORCAS ANN
CHAMBLEE and WILLIAM HENRY RUSK in the official records of Cherokee Co.,
which lists the date in Marriage Record Book E. p. 39 as Dec. 16, 1869,
Wednesday.
All the family records, including those compiled by Sally Rusk, (sister
of Dean and a stickler for every detail) for the Rusk Family Association
give the date as February 8, 1868.
Henry and Dorcas Rusk's first child was born July 16, 1869
( Of course, there could have been an elaborate family cover-up of the
fact that Dorcas was "in the family way" before her marriage, so the
family altered the date.)
The facts that Henry returned from Montana in late 1866 or very early
1867 and they had been engaged for almost seven years while he was gone,
also make me think they got married soon after his return instead of
waiting another entire year and marrying in Dec. 1869.
I know he was on his way home from MT by Oct, 1866, because we have a
receipt from jeweler in Philadelphia with that date on it. He went by
Philly to have his gold assayed and minted and to have a wedding band and
necklace made for Dorcas from gold he had mined. That's where I get my
idea that he was probably back in Ga by late 1866 or early 1867.
Thanks for all the work you've done on the Chamblee line. I have really
benefitted from you efforts!
Suzanne
