Margaret Burch asked a few questions which I thought I would upload since they
involve so many of you.

1. How does Sarah Mary Chamblee who married Joshua Burress fit in
with the original six brothers or cousins? Was she a sister?>>
We've never known, never been able to prove a thing. It's a wild guess. I wish
some Joshua Burress person would REALLY dig into very old records and arcane
things and see if any odd Chamblees are mentioned in connection to this
family!! I've heard alot of speculation, but I look at that only as a
"clue"....often a wrong "clue" as I have tried to prove the clues.
<< I learned that the SC Chamblee's have thought that George rather
than Robert was father to Benjamin Chamblee ( he is my gg-grandfather)
How did this confusion come about? Where could I get more information
about Robert? >>
Ah, you have hit my favorite subject! The confusion was from dear Ethel
Updike's book. For some reason she was not privy to Robert Chamblee's will
filed in Wake County naming Benjamin W. Chamblee (the ONLY person he used a
middle initial with) and the deed from "Benjamin Chamblee of Pendleton Co NC"
selling lands to Robert Chamblee (his dad).
In George's estate records he names Benjamin as a "legatee". Well, a
legatee
does NOT mean father-son, it means "relative". Some of Isaac Chamblee's
children were also legatees. We sent Jack to the SC archives years ago to
PROVE once and for all that our proof was right. He pulled all of George's
records and all is as stated above.
Anne went to the SC reunion there in Anderson Co and they had George as
Benjamin's child all over the walls. In her indelible compassionate way she
mentioned this, but after many dozens reunions it didn't seem to "take".
Part
of the problem is that no one consults the actual records, they just read
secondary sources.
This help?

PS: Even with all this proof it's impossible to convince some George/Benjamin
believers.
