I once saw a program on PBS called TREASURE HOUSES OF BRITAIN. The
Cholmondeley
were among those interviewed. The present owners of the house applied to
the government
to make a major addition to the outside of the manor and on that addition
that had written something to the effect that there was once a wastrel son
of a former Cholmondeley who was such a no-good that he sold much of the
treasure that was accumulated up to that time and the present owner felt
that he
wanted that fact known forever by haveing it written in as a part of that
manor addition.
