"...only sister of Grandma Carson. The grave is located about 40 yds on
north
side of the road in a cotton patch. his grave his wifes and Harriett
Chamblee's. When he was buried it was original forrest, and the marker to
the
grave is a little rockpile and a bunch of briers and a little old
fashion
evergreen. Cross Dog Creek going west from the Ed Crow place, the Harris
old
home is on the left going west and the grave is just about 50 yards
east
of
the next house on the right. I think the Harris place belongs to Dr.
L. H.
Crowe of Athens. With best wishes, I am respectfully /s/ H.D. Carson"

Dear Sonk:
Replying to your card, I beg to advise that I find where William Harris
was
married to Dycie Miller, August 19, 1819. The ceremony was performed
by J.
Hammond, J.I.C. [note, 1870 census said Williami Harris was 76, b. GA]
I also find where William Harris deeded 45 acres of land to J. Benjamin
Chamblee. This land is described as adjoining James Blackwell, Elias
Roach,
Jeppsie Atkinson. The consideration of this deed was for Chamblee to
take
care of Harris and his wife during their natural life. It also had on it
the
following personal property: one cripple sorrel mare, cow and
yearling,
household and kitchen furniture belonging to Harris. Also it carried a
promise of a U.S. Pension for service rendered during the War of 1812,
provided Harris was successful in obtaining it. It also stated that if
Benjamin Chamblee failed to carry out his contract, the deed was void. It
was
witnessed by Thomas MOrris and T.O. Burruss and attested by Alex
White
N.P.
date Nov. 6, 1871. The old record does not show the grandtees and as
some
of
them are in the arkise in the state capitol, it was not possible for
me to
make a complete search.. . Sincerely, /s/ Ab
(handwritten note on bottom)
Dear Mrs. Pittman,
Enclosed please find record of William Harris marriage in Franklin Co. I
am
sure his wife drew a pension after his death. I am sure you can get
that
information from the Government. Respectfully, /s/ H.D. Carson, M.D.
(Note: William Harris' wife was Dicey Miller, daughter of John Adam
Miller)
