Dear Cousins,
After a long, hard battle with cancer, Mary Lee Chamblee Duvall, the mother
of Bobbe Duvall, passed away early this morning in a hospital in Georgia. For
those of you who don't know, Bobbe Duvall is in charge of this Chamblee
e-mail list and one of the core group of the Chamblee/Chamlee Family Network.
I joyfully met Bobbe many years ago when internet genealogy was in its
fledgling state.
Mary Lee Chamblee (Duvall) was born in Hatley, Monroe Co, Mississippi, 3 Sep
1929. She was the oldest child of Marshall Douglass Chamblee and Ninnie Lou
Tubb. Bobbe has three younger brothers, Glen Michael, Frank Allen, and
Charles Hobart Duvall.
Mary Lee's line ancestral back to Wake Co NC is: Robert/Jarred/ Freeman/
James R. J./Charles Perry/ Marshall Douglas/ Mary Lee Chamblee.
Bobbe was an amazingly thoughtful and loving caregiver during this entire
ordeal. When her mother was first diagnosed and faced horrific rounds of
radiation and chemotherapy a few years ago, Bobbe left her own home in
another city and moved in with her mother for an extended period of time.
Bobbe never flinched from being physically, emotionally and spiritually
available to her mother. This and other selfless acts by Bobbe have been a
great example to me of "honoring your parents" and compassionate
other-centered love and service.
Bobbe and her mother were unusually close. The family have journeyed to
Mississippi where Mary Lee Duvall will be buried on ancestral turf. May
Bobbe's journey onward be filled with sweet remembrances of her mother united
in family love that cannot be separated by the boundaries of this life.
