Hello Chamlee list.
I know I am a broken record but I need information on my Great =
grandfather. Jacob Lewis Chamlee. On the only Census I have found which =
is the 1910 Logan Co. Arkansas, He was listed with his wife Arminta =
called Minnie, a son Henry aged 10,Bertha aged 5 and Fanny aged 2. Soon =
after that the family moved to Texarkana and another daughter was born, =
her name was Olive it was 1912. According to my Grandmother (Bertha) her =
mother passed away in 1915 in Seymour Baylor Co. Texas. Jake as he was =
called took the the girls to Dallas to put them up for adoption. Only =
one the baby was adopted. In 1950 Bertha located her siblings and they =
compared notes, none had heard from Jake after 1912. They also located =
an aunt on the Lemon side who had heard once from Jake in 1918. She had =
recieved a card from a hosptial in El Paso , Texas saying Jake was dying =
and he wanted to let someone know where he was in case his children ever =
asked. We have checked with the City, County and State and there is no =
evidence that Jake ever died in Texas. We know he had asthma and that he =
was headed to the west to try to feel better. If any one had a Jacob =
Lewis Chamlee in their tree or if you know anything that might help me. =
Please Help!!!!!!
I have a couple of photographs of Jake including one that is of the =
family in Arkansas about 1911. Also the other has a syrup mill and =
several men and boys making syrup. Sylvia Oxenreider of Ft. Worth said =
her Chamlee's had a syrup mill. I would appreciate any information on my =
mysterious Chamlee. Oh by the way on the 1910 Census the name was =
spelled Shabley.
Thanks Paula
