Since a few of you come from Robert/John/William Bryant Chamblee line, I
thought I'd add this to the list. I found it in the sourced books below. Just
some colorful history of the area to add to your family histories.
*********************************
The name of Rosinburg (near W.B. estate) came from a turpentine distillery
owned by W.B Chamblee. located near Rocky Branch. Turpentine was made and
rosin poured on the ground because of lack of market. Large sheets of
hardened rosin could be seen near the still. Chamblee placed a dam and
installed a cotton gin powered by water near the turpentine still. ("The
Heritage of Wake Co, NC") William Bryant Chamblee also was a mill and cotton
gin owner. ["WAKE: Capital County of NC Vol. I" 1983, by Elizabeth Murry].
