Group, this 100+ acre parcel is to be auctioned off within the next 2
weeks. I'm hoping Willa Bolton Deans will be able to attend the
auction. I think this is criminal if this house is to be torn down.

Carla,
I rode out to see the land you told me about which is to be auctioned later
this month. It is the Chamblee land and we passed it when we went out US
Highway #64 to Moccasin creek. There is an old Chamblee house still standing
on the left side of the road which belonged to Wm. Bryant Chamblee, Civil War
veteran, farmer and sawmill operator. According to local history, the date
on the chimney of the house reads l8l8 and was probably constructed between
the early l800s and l840.
W.B.Chamblee's grandfather, Robin, came to the area from his native Ireland.
I believe I have sent a copy of an article appearing in the "Zebulon Record"
in June l983 to D'Ann about the Rosinburg community which includes this
information.
This all convinces me that we are right about the original location of the
Boltons, Masseys, Stricklands, Chamblees & other early families settling in
this area.
The auction should be interesting and I will let you know what happens.
